Here are a few definitions of words pertaining to the paranormal.  I hope that they are of use to our faithful visitors.  If there are any other words or phrases that anyone wants us to add please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to get them on the list.                                                   

Apparition- A disembodied spirit visible to a living person

Banishing- A ceremonial, magical ritual used to cast out negative energy or influences

Cleansing- A ritual in which negative energy and or entities are cast out through prayers spoken out loud

Cold Spots- A spot that is cooler then the surrounding area.

Ectoplasmic Mist- A substance that forms out of thin air and looks like a thick fog

EMF (electromagnetic field)- Electrical charges found in anything that uses electricity or generates a magnetic field

EVP (electronic voice phenomena)-A voice not heard as it is being spoken but later is heard on a recorder

Floating Orb- A spherical image, ussually a translucent white, though sometimes a reddish or bluish hue.  Orbs appear frequently on still pictures and videotape.  Some believe they can be evidence of paranormal activity but alot of time they are just dust, bugs, or moisture.

Ghost- A spirit who may or may not have been a living human being or animal, which sometimes appears to be semitransparent

Haunting- The repeated appearance of a ghostly presence

Inhuman Entity (negative entity)- A demon or other spirit who's intent is to cause harm to living human beings

Intelligent Haunting- An entity or spirit that is aware of its surroundings and may be interactive

Poltergeist- The "noisy ghost" A rare form of haunting that manifests its presence through noises, rappings and moving of objects

Residual haunting- A psychic recording of an event from the past that continues to play over and over again like a recording.  The entity involoved does not interact with the living.

Spirit- A ghost or entity that once existed on the earth

Sensitive- A person who can see or feel people, objects, and events in the realm of the paranormal

Vortex- An anomaly that sometimes shows up in photograhs taken at suspected haunted locations. They appear as a translucent white tube or funnel shape mass.  Some believe they may be portals to the spirit world
